Iron City Studios had a the amazing opportunity to take photos at this year's Finley Awards. The Finely Awards began in 1996 in honor of Robert Finley, who worked at Berry High School from 1963 until 1994 as an educator and coach. Mr. Finley was well known for miraculous coaching for Berry High School. He lead his team at Berry to two State Championships, and while he is greatly remembered for his coaching skills, he is better known for his personality and amazing character. He was greatly adored by his students, fellow educators and coaches and that is why he has an entire night dedicated to his honor and those who resemble characteristics of this great man. Specifically, an employee in the district and a graduating senior from Hoover High School and Spain Park High School, along with grade-level character award winners (grades 3-12) from all Hoover City Schools.
Unlike past years, this year's Finley Awards was held at the Metro Church. It was the perfect location to hold such a prestigious event! There was plenty of room for the family members and friends of the honorees to gather and celebrate their achievement. As the guests arrived, the Spain Parks High School jazz band was playing soulful tunes. We decided to bring two photographers for the event, to make sure the entire evening had 100% coverage. One of ICS's photographers was in the ceremony space, taking photos of each honoree as they walked across the stage. While our other photographer, set up in the lobby to take group photos of each school's winners! It was such an honor to be apart of such a special night in all of special student's lives!
A few weeks ago we were given the opportunity to join partners with the Alabama Juniors Volleyball Club. We were asked to come shoot both their individual players and their teams. What a great shoot! Awesome parents and very sweet girls. These ladies practice hard and put everything have into achieving their goals!
We custom created a volleyball court background for them to give them something a little extra ordinary. We shot the individuals in a composite style to be put together with their teams. It's a far departure from the average team photos they were getting in the past. In the ordinary photos they just lined up against the wall and took a team shot. Our composite team photos allowed each individual player to strike a separate pose and make sure that the player was sharp, in focus, and can be fully viewed. This is the new wave in sports photography.
We like to tell teams that we become strategic partners, and that is the truth. We want to work with you and your team leaders to make sure that we get the best shots possible for your team. We also want to partner with your team in a unique way to commission back part of the sales. To make this mutually beneficial, we have to do something that the parents just can't do with their average camera or phone. Technology has gotten smarter and better, and parents demand is higher than ever. We truly love what came out of the Alabama Juniors Volleyball Club, and would love to talk to you about the sports teams that you might work with.
When Iron City Studios first began working with the Hoover Soccer Club, we were all so excited to work with a new club! We are used to working with Hoover High School's sports teams, so the Hoover Soccer Club was right up our alley! Being the new photography company for the Hoover Soccer Club, we truly wanted to make our process as simple and fun as possible. We spoke with the head people at the Hoover Soccer Club about what their needs were, what the parent's needs were and how we could all work together to give the teams and parents the best service and products. Iron City Studios uses composite photos for all of our sports teams we work with, including the Hoover Soccer Club. A composite is a photo taken typically on a white background. The photo's subject is then cut out and put onto a thoughtfully designed, digital background for either an individual photo, or a team photo. We even take each individual photo and put them together to create a team photo. We custom create all of the composites right here in our studio, located in Hoover AL, using the latest editing software and resources. Putting together the individual and team photos for the Hoover Soccer Club ended up being such a fun experience for us and we cannot wait to work with this Club in the future!
Iron City Studios was asked to take photos for Hoover High School's Sadie Hawkin's Dance in January. Traditionally, it is known that young men will ask the ladies to school dances. In recent years, "prom-posals", where guys come up with creative ways to ask girls to dances, in particularlly prom, have become incredibly popular. Sadie Hawkins Dances take the traditional and flip it on its head! This particular dance gives girls the lead, having to ask the guys to attend with them! Many Hoover High School ladies did just that this year and the turn out for the dance was great! The girls were all glammed up in their prettiest dresses and the guys looked sharp in their suits and formal attire! The cafeteria transformed into what was a beautifully decorated event space, with white sheer curtains running from ceiling to floor and multicolored lights that gave a special ambiance to the entire room! The DJ had popular, upbeat music blaring and soon everyone got into the spirit and started dancing! Even a dance circle formed and students took turns showing off their moves in front of others! Here at Iron City Studios, we love to apart of such fun nights at hoover High School like the Sadie Hawkin's Dance! From group shots to candids that we snap as we get into the thick of the crowds, we are there to capture it all!
Iron City Studios spent last Friday night cheering on the Hoover High School Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball teams as they played against Vestavia Hills! The student section was full of high energy as the girls took the court! The Buccanettes took to the court during half time and put on a beautiful show in black, flowy skirts! Tensions were high after the girls finished their game with the win! More students crowded in with signs and school spirit to cheer on the boys! The gym was so loud from the crowd cheering, you couldn't hear the person next to you! The boys took the court and immediately had the upper hand! During their half-time, the Buccanettes took to the court again, this time with a hiphop routine that got the crowd to their feet!
This was not just any ordinary Friday night game though. It just so happened to be Senior night as well. Senior Night is a special night full of celebration for the seniors on either team! Parents and loved ones gathered to cheer on and honor the seniors and all that they have accomplished over the years. Family members brought flowers and balloons and I do believe we saw a cake or two - yum! We at Iron City Studios want to say a big congratulations to all of the seniors for their hard work over the years!
